Up & Coming Theatre announces auditions for
Auditions for the Summer 2008 production of Rent - School Edition will be held Sunday, May 18 from 1-4 PM and Monday, May 19 from 7-10 PM at Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Please prepare 32 bars of a rock song or a song of similar style to Rent (i.e. Jesus Christ Superstar, Tommy, Jekyll and Hyde) and be prepared to dance. You may choose to sing a song from Rent. However, Rent songs will be used for callbacks so a song in a similar style is suggested for auditions. Auditions are on a walk-in basis so no appointments necessary. Picture and resume requested but not mandatory. Age requirements for those wishing to audition are students 19 and under. Since there are no roles for children, auditionees should be able to convincingly play an adult.Callbacks will be Tuesday, May 20 from 7-10 PM. “RENT SCHOOL EDITION - Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical (based loosely on Puccini's opera La Bohème) has been specially adapted for productions by schools. This adaptation has been carefully done, working with the Larson estate to retain the dramatic intent of the groundbreaking rock musical, and consists of minimal changes to language and the removal of one song (CONTACT) to make it possible for many schools to perform this piece.“
